World Ballet Day 2024 is …
… Sadly, not going to happen.
Following is news from the official World Ballet Day site today, September 23, 2024:
After 10 fantastic years of bringing together audiences around the globe on World Ballet Day, The Australian Ballet, The Royal Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet have decided to pause the event this year.
If you’re into World Ballet Day and have been feverishly scouring the internet for news, you might have been (falsely) heartened by official-looking sites that have announced the date for 2024. Oh, look, it’s October 1st! No, wait, it’s November 1st!
Nope. They are just click-bait and/or falsely representing World Ballet Day. And now, slapped with the harsh reality from the real source (https://worldballetday.com) I’m as sad as you are.
The official World Ballet Day site goes on to say:
We’re looking to return in 2025 with a refreshed and dynamic approach, bringing the World Ballet Day celebrations to even more people.
So that’s that.
Tell you what, readers. We can have our own World Ballet Day fun. Honest. For starters, The Royal Ballet is incredibly generous in keeping up its five-hour segment of World Ballet Day 2023. So get yourself your favorite beverage, sit back and enjoy five hours of World Ballet Day AT YOUR OWN CONVENIENCE. Here on the West Coast, it can be tough to watch the European (and tons of other) dance action because, well, we need to sleep. So I, for one, am looking forward to picking a big chunk of me-time in the next few weeks and enjoying THIS:
I will continue to deliver other watch-worthy and read-worthy ballet stuff for you to enjoy. Drop by again and check it out from now through November 1st!
On October 9th, here’s something fun from WBD 2023 to watch from Kansas City Ballet:

Thank for this news. I cant believe there was an instagram that seemed official and grave it a date. And Facebook too.
You’re welcome, Lulu. Yeah, a lot of people were certain there was a “real” date set. A lot of disappointment over the reality of no World Ballet Day this year.
Your tireless dedication to keeping us correctly informed about what is actually going on is genuinely appreciated.
Thank you so much, Don. Your nice comment made my day!
